At Heavy Drinker, we believe that the appreciation of fine spirits and cigars goes beyond mere indulgence; it’s a celebration of tradition, craftsmanship, and the pursuit of perfection. The Heavy in our name is not singular in point. Yes we make heavy bases for whiskey glasses to enhance the experience (among other crazy shit), but it also means heavy as in gravitas. As in soulful weight. As in important. The pun is often received with mixed signals, but we are genuinely here to promote the responsible indulgence in fine spirits and cigars.

At Heavy Drinker, as we navigate the path of bringing manufacturing back to North America, we’re not just focusing on our business growth. We’re reconnecting with our roots, celebrating the pride and craftsmanship that our region has always been known for. Central to our philosophy is the significant environmental benefit that comes with shorter supply chains. By keeping our manufacturing close to home, we reduce the journey from production to consumer, cutting down on our carbon footprint. In a time when caring for our planet is more crucial than ever, we see this not just as a smart choice, but as our duty. Part of that journey is getting started offshore. This confuses people, and taken at face value we completely understand that. But right now, in the current economic climate, we could not launch this business in any sustainable fashion using local artisans and manufacturers. It wouldn’t be fair tot hem to ask them to reduce their prices until our value statement is made, and it wouldn’t be fair to our people to work for nothing while building the brand.

So we took a different approach.

We will utilize offshore manufacturing and materials only to get started. We have two lines of glassware. One line is made offshore and allows us to bootstrap this business. Is the quality of these products lower? Certainly not. We still hand select and spend thousands of dollars getting samples and one offs manufactured to our specifications and inspect them with the same critical eye we use on our hand crafted products.

But they ARE substantially more affordable. Using offshore as a stepping stone to build the brand and take even more time and consideration on our second line of glassware. Sourcing North American and European made materials and partners to increase the value of our small batch products, and align with our vision of making all of our glasses and accessories here in Canada, the United States and the EU.
